The countdown to launch continues…

In my last post “Gas Buy Down” I mentioned that our gas buy down is tomorrow. This event has gotten quite a bit of attention around here.

It all started by handing out a bunch of fliers around North Plains (part of our target area). Keith (our pastor) also sent an email to “The Oregonian” (the newspaper) about what we were doing. Later that week he got an email back and did a phone interview with one of the reporters and was told that an article would run. We were not aware, however, until the newspaper came out (Thursday, September 11th) that the article made the front page above the fold!

That article really started a domino reaction. By 9 AM the morning of the newspaper article we had two or three other local news and media agencies contacting us wanting interviews with Keith and wanting to run the story.

I’ve kind of lost count as to where all it has run now, but I’ve included links to a bunch of the stories below…

I know of a few other places that said they were going to pick up the story, but haven’t seen it on their websites or live. These are Fox 12 News (KPTV), KEX 1190, and KUIK 1360 AM.

It’s been a while since I last posted anything up here. I’ve been fairly busy with work, church, and family and have not had much to post about. Here is an update about what I’ve been up to…

Valerie and I spent the extended weekend (4 days, I took an extra day off) with her parents up in Renton, WA. It was nice and refreshing to be away for a few days and not really have to do anything in particular. I think my favorite part was to be able to be part of the congregation in church on Sunday and just join in worship. Being the worship leader at our church doesn’t allow me to just join in worship as whenever we have service I am leading worship - how refreshing!

Other than that, we have been doing quite a bit of stuff. We are currently working on a complete makeover of our landscaping. We’ve never been very satisfied by our landscaping and always knew we would redo it to our liking, but haven’t had the opportunity until now. This project will likely take most of the summer due to our schedule and lack of ‘free’ time to work on it.

In about 4 - 5 hours we will be on our way to pick up our CoW equipment! We’ll be doing nearly 1500 miles in the next two days.
