Launch!

16 09 2008

Where has the time gone?

It seems like it was just yesterday that Keith and I were sitting down at Arby’s across the street from my work and just beginning to talk about the new church God had called him to start…

That was nearly 1 year ago.

I told him that day that Val and I had been praying about it and that we were in for sure. The time has flown by and here we are - 5 days away from our official LAUNCH!!!

We have been scrambling the last few weeks (well not me so much as I was on vacation) completely changing up our service and Life Groups and doing something that we’ve never seen in a church before. Why? You ask. Based on some of the feedback we received from guests at our preview services and a refreshed direction from God we feel that the new service order will better meet non-Christians’ needs, because that is who we are here for.

With all the nerves and last minute stuff that is going on, we are all EXCITED and pumped about what God is doing in LCC and how he has been working out all of the details with ease! We know that God is doing great work and are blessed to be a part of it.

Gas Buy Down - Update

16 09 2008

So the Gas Buy Down has come and gone and the free publicity has stopped, but the effects are still present.

The buy down, last Saturday, took about 5 hours and the gas station owner said he went through about twice as much gas as in the same amount of time any other Saturday. His convenience store sales were also through the roof! Praise God! I’m glad that LCC was able to help out the gas station owner and the community at large (by discounting their gas by 20 cents - 35 cents for the last two hours) at the same time.br /br /More free publicity did come on Saturday as well.nbsp; Two TV stations came out and took footage and did some interviews with Keith as well as some of the people filling up their cars, boats, RVs, etc.nbsp; ‘The Oregonian’ also did another report in the Sunday newspaper (not on the front page this time).nbsp; In addition, every car that came through the gas station on Saturday also got a flier directing them to our website, which received a major revamp yesterday

Since Saturday, our website has been averaging about 20 new visitors per day. That is about 5 times higher than our previous daily average of about 4. In addition, about 60% of visitors visited more than just the home page, spent about 6.5 minutes on the site, and visited a total of 5.11 pages.

These stats are great! We hope and pray that this trend keeps up and that some of these website visits are converted to Sunday visits.

Gas Buy Down

12 09 2008

Tomorrow is our Gas Buy Down!

For those who are not familiar with what that is we are going to contribute 20 cents per gallon up to 7500 gallons at a local gas station for all gas station patrons. This effectively lowers the price per gallon for patrons by 20 cents (e.g. if the normal price for tomorrow is $3.65 per gallon, patrons will actually pay $3.45 and we will kick in the extra 20 cents for them).

We (church members) are also going to be on hand to wash windows, clean out trash, and hand out some fliers. Unfortunately, since we live in Oregon, we can’t actually pump the gas ourselves.

We are super excited for this and are hoping the turn out is awesome! Hopefully it will generate some extra attendance for our Launch service next week.

I will post an update tomorrow or Sunday on the results…
